      Brands:Durakote

      Types:

      Field of application:

Introduction:Durakote 611W is water based semi-permanent release agent for the release of reinforced composites( including those based on epoxy, polyester and phenolic resins),. Durakote 611W has been formulated to be applied at room temperature and when cured, form a hard durable film that is chemically bonded to the mould surface and is capable of providing many releases before reapplication is necessary. Durakote 611W will not contaminate the release surface. Durakote 611W can be applied to moulds at any temperature form ambient(>20 ℃)to 200℃

      Mould cleaning

This needs to be performed prior to product application.

The mould should be clean and dry before use. If necessary, clean the mould using an abrasive(for example, sand metal or

dry-ice shot-blasting.). When possible, this should be following by wiping the mould with a solvent based cleaner, such as

      Durakaote PMC-600.

If a semi-permanent release agent had been used on the mould  then Durakote 611W can be applied over existing

semi-permanent release agent. The best performance is obtained by removing all traces of prior products.

Application:-Brush or Wipe application to moulds at temperatures between 20 and 60

      1. Durakote 611W can be applied by brush, wipe (recommended) or spray techniques.

2.Using a clean dry cloth, wipe over mould surface covering an area of approximately 1-2m2. .vigorous

rubbing or polishing is not required.

3.Wait until the edges start to dry (generally 1-5 min depending on temperature)

4.With a second dry cotton cloth, gently wipe over the wet coating to leave a thin wet film. i.e. spreading the wet film.

Do not wipe until dry. Vigorous rubbing or polishing should be avoided.

5.Repeat steps 2-4 on the adjacent area. Ensure a good overlap with the previous area to provide complete coverage.

      6. Repeat until mould is completely coverage.

7.When dry, allow a minimun of 1 hour between coats ( at 25℃) for the film to cure. The cure time can be reduced

by warming the mould, for example , at 60℃, 10minutes cure is sufficient.

8.Repeat steps 1-7 above for a further 3 coats (4 in total), Apply each coat at 90 degrees to the last.

9.For new moulds or repaired areas on the old moulds,2extra coats are recommended.

10.After applying the final coat, cure the film for the times indicated in the table below.

Allow time for mould to reach temperature

Application: Spray application Moulds at temperatures between 60 and 200

Durakote 611W when spray ,the use of a high volume Low Pressure spray gun is strongly recommended.

This type of spray gun will give the best drying pattern and highest gloss finish while providing optimum

      transfer efficiency.

a)The spray gun should be set at 2-2.5 bar pressure(30-35 psi) and ideally fitted with a fluid needle of less

      than 1.4 mm diameter.

b)Holding the nozzle of the gun approximately 20cm form the mould surface, adjust the output so that the

film dries in approximately 5-10 seconds when using a normal spray technique. If the film stays wet for > 10

seconds, too much product is being applied.

c)Systematically coat the entire surface of the mould. Care must be taken to over-lap sprayed areas.

d)Immediately after applying the first coat, apply the second at 90o to the first. No waiting is require

      between coats.

e)For difficult to reach areas, use a spray gun extension or lance.

      f) Best results will be obtained by using the following paramenters.

(1)The cure time is only required after the final coat has been applied.

(2)when spraying product below 100 care must be taken to prevent pools of product and runs on the

mould you need spray lighter coats and wait a few minutes between coats, to ensure that the film is dry

      prior to applying next coat.

      Reapplication:

When release becomes hesitant, reapply one coat of Durakote 611W in the same manner as described

      above.

      Tips for optimal performance:

If possible, avoid the use of water based mould cleaners. They all contain surfactants or wetting aids which

      many interfere with release performance.

When applied to a clean surface at room temperature, Duraktoe 611W form s complete wet film. On a

surface where previous release agent has not been completely removed, the film will become broken(i,e,

de-wet) as it dries. Gently spreading the wet film with a dry cloth will leave release agent where it is required. This helps minimise release agent build-up on the mould.

Steaking and poor cosmetics are generally caused by leaving the wet film too long before spreading the film with the dry cloth. This is most prominent when wipe applying to poorly cleaned moulds or wiping on to moulds at >40 C. This is not an issue except if this is the final coat. With prior coats, the streaks are generally removed on the application of subsequent coats.

As the resin used in Durakote 611W is heat cured, better release and film durability is obtained when the product is applied to pre-heated mould.

Do not use the product on moulds at < 20 C.

For fast application at room temperature, the product can be spray applied using any type of spray equipment (including a garden spray). Then follow steps 3) and 4) over-leaf.

If the dry cloth become wet, replace with a fresh clean dry colth.

A cotton cloth is not necessary, synthetic cloths or wipes that show good absorbency can also be used.

Good release will not be achieved if the product is not heat cured.
