      Introduction:Durakote 625 is designed to release gelcoated glass reinforce polyester(GRP) or vinly ester parts form gelcoated moulds. Durakote 625 is ideally suited for high gloss applications. Durakote 625 is a blend of a microcrystalline wax and a polymeric resin. The product combines ease of application and multiple release capability. Durakote 625 is applied in a similar manner to a liquid was. Durakote 625 produces an easily visible film on the mould surface that assures the user of complete,uniform coverage. The film is easy to polish, producing a high gloss durable finish capable of giving many release before re-application is necessary.

      Note

      The polymeric resin used in Durakote 625 reacts with moisture. Please ensure can is resealed after use. Shake will before and during use of product.

      For new, porous or damaged moulds, Durakote 615 should be used prior to applying the Durakote 625.See Durakote 615 technical date sheet for application details.

       

      Application

      Please read Safety Date Sheet before use.


      If necessary , polish mould to desired level of gloss. If a previous wax based release agent had been used, remove traces of wax using a solvent based cleaner such as Durakote PMC-600.Durakote 625 can be applied over existing semi-permanent release agents without a further cleaning step. The mould should be clean and dry before use. New moulds(and repaired areas) should be coasted with Durakote 615 (see Durakote 615 date sheet). Mould cleaning and release agent application should be performed in a well-ventilated area

       

      1.Shake can before use.

      2.Generously apply Durakote 625 to a clean, dry cotton cloth.

      3.Wipe over mould surface, frequently reapplying Durakote 625 to cloth.

      4.Allow film to haze( as with a wax)

      5.Check film for areas that may have been missed. Reapply as necessary.

      6.Allow 15-20 minutes (typically) for Durakote 625 to dry.

      7.Use a fresh cotton cloth, polish film to g high gloss. No hard rubbing is required. Frequently turn/ replace cloth to provide easy removal of wax from the surface. Mechanical polishers are not recommended as they tend to produce "dry spots"

      8.Repeat Steps 1-7 for a further 3 coats.

      9.Allow product to cure for minimum of 20 minutes.

      10.Commence moulding.

      Touch-up:

      When the release start to become hesitant, re-apply 1 coat of Durakote 625 in the same manner as described above.
